For over 20 years now, Lawrence J. Clark has delighted audiences all across the United States with his one-man show consisting of music, poetry, storytelling, and dramatic performances. A gifted and honored songwriter, he has recorded four CDs of original music and a children's music/poetry CD/book project. His songs have been included on compilations published by MyTexasMusic.com, Texas Music Magazine, and the Houston Association of Acoustic Musicians (HAAM). Clark's literary works have been published in numerous print and online journals and books, and have been used in both K-12 and college classrooms across the U.S. and around the world. he has also risen through the ranks of academia to earn a B.A in Communications with a minor in Music Theory, and both Master's and Doctoral degrees in English--not exactly what one would expect from a former high school dropout! In his compelling presentations, Clark chronicles his amazing life journey from his troubled teens to his current successful and fulfilling life as an acclaimed author, performer, and educator. Moving swiftly from a humorous anecdote to a serious poem to a wacky song to a philosophical point, Clark captures the audience's attention. His goal is not simply to entertain, but to "edutain," and to live out his personal mission: Improving
literacy in America

Lawrence does a great job relating to the teens and their interests as he shares his skills in songwriting and poetry. Highly recommended! Melissa
Baker, Young Adult Librarian
Lawrence Clark's songs are engaging for kids and adults alike. It was fun to hear the crowd singing along to tunes like Blue-Tongued Skink, while some of the other songs made me nostalgic for my childhood. Riann Powell,
Cultural Activities Coordinator
Clark had good presentation skills and kept the students’ attention, especially by having interactive elements . . . he established good rapport with his student audiences. I would recommend his program to other schools, and I will most likely engage him for a return visit to my school in the future. Colleen McKenna,
Librarian
The songs were entertaining and on level for our at-risk high school students. The poetry was very meaningful. Our students really enjoyed the performance. Thanks for the CD's--several students have checked them out! Debi Goode,
Principal
His performance was appropriate for people of all ages. We told him what we would like and whom we thought the target audience would be and he took it from there. The program was well received. Mary Jackson,
Director
In a day where the pop sound or the repetitive beat gets all the attention, Clark has remained true to the lyric. His songs are entertaining, humorous, sensitive, and just plain pretty. Jinelle Boyd, co-founder, MyTexasMusic.com
Clark captivates
his audiences by using his literary and musical talent
to deliver a message and help people learn.
All in all, Lawrence J. Clark seems to be a reputable jack-of-all-trades; a modern day bard, able to sing songs, tell tales, and weave within his stories an in-depth knowledge which he freely passes on to those who will listen. Daniel Capes, The Collegian
This (Beautiful) is a great CD! There are songs on here that, if you're feeling down, they really pick you up and make you feel better! Lawrence is not only a good singer, but a great songwriter. Robby Barnes, MyTexasMusic.com fan review
